90 Years of Scouting in Wilnecote

Date: 2nd Sep 2024 Author: Simon Gilliver

What a fantastic day celebrating 90 years of Scouting in the Wilnecote Community. We had the perfect weather and the perfect day to have the Official opening ceremony of our New Scout HQ. A lot of hard work and countless hours were put in by volunteers to build our forever home. Thankyou to everyone who invested money, time and effort into the project and thankyou to all the local businesses that donated building materials. Special thanks to Adam Austin for all the electrical instalments, Plant M.A.N. (uk) Ltd, Walter Tippers, Travis Perkins and SLFlooring.

The Headquarters was officially opened by Wilnecote Cllr Tina Clements.

Many Thanks to all who came along today, joined in the celebrations and supported our community. It’s been a long while since a large event has resided on the 9ft Park (the last one I remember was the carnival way back when). It was great to see so many people throughout the day. Thanks to Bibbledy Bob for providing the entertainment and thanks to the many vendors for joining us. We hope you did well

Thanks once again to the “Friends of 3rd Wilnecote Scout Group Fundraising Group” and our Amazing team of enablers, who did an epic job in organising such a fun filled and memorable day and also Thankyou to our fantastic leaders for running the many activities on offer.

Truly a day to remember 😉

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
